The Issue on Sexting

The tragedy of 18 year old Jessica Logan is a sad story with a terrible but very probable ending in today's world. Nowadays teenage girls and boys are sexting one another, that is sending explicit pictures of themselves to others, without realizing the consequences it might have on their future. The issue with the sexting is that Jessica only sent it to her boyfriend without knowing that when they broke up, he would make it public to his friends, and they would then send it to other people. A young girl of 18 getting harassed by her class mates for something she never meant anyone else to find out, it's cruel, but it's reality. The worst part is that she felt like there was no other solution but to end her life... I think it's outrageous how things got out of control because a kid should never feel like committing suicide.

My stand point on things is that parents shouldn't sue the school because it wasn't their fault that she sent that text or that her boyfriend made it public. I believe that the actions to take on this matter is trying to find a way to avoid other kids from suffering what Jessica suffered. What I do blame the school with is not being more supportive with Jessica's situation but then again, you can also blame her parents for not realizing something was wrong and she wasn't happy. You can't file a suit against an institution for something that was out of their hands. School counselors should be more open to students and really take the role of psychologist when these things happen because hormonal as we teens are, we tend to make rash decisions to find an easy solution. So I vote for no law suit!

The Issues to Face...

Recently the social network called Facebook has implemented new security measures to enable a faster and more reliable way to make your information safeter. From now on, every post or picture you put into your profile can be single edited to make it available to people in your network, to your friend's friends, to only your friends, or to everyone. It also says that the information shared with third parties will not be on account of Facebook, for the only information they share is that of the one that we give our conscent to be shared. Another thing it explains is that we have the right to delete our accounts or to simply deactivate them until we later want to reuse them without losing our information, contacts, or pictures. The last thing the statement says is that privacy settings may change according to the appropriate times. This will not really affect my use of facebook, and I think that they will be succesful as long as people use them. I like it because im very private about my information on facebook, the only thing that is public is my name and my friends, and that's just because it's necesary.

I believe that the situation with post about ASPV staff memebers on Facebook is blowing out of proportion. I don't believe that they are offensive or that they were meant to be offensive. Yes, the creator should make changes and take away the ASPV logo, Selitzer's picture, and the name of the teacher who say those quotes. Maybe it should become like a "Guess Who?" kinda thing. If staff members of ASPV posted our work or videos, depending on the content, some people might get angry or not. I wouldn't really mind because I have nothing to be ashamed of. What i believe that the school should do about this problem is not forbid Facebook but talk to the whole student body about the consequences that things like these could bring upon the kids who did this, because If the administration acted in an aggressive manner against the students, then the student's reaction would be to piss them off even more.

Video Editing!

Our new class assignment for January is a short film! It's really exciting actually because Melida and me will be filming a short film about ecology and green safety measures. The 30 seconds to 1 minute film will include tips of what to do and what not to do in order to maintain our natural environment safe and help reduce the pollution we create inside our communities. We haven't perfected the details yet, but we will be shooting in different sceneries and also we might include a 20 second interview. The point of our focus is to use the space given by Mr. Mark to try to create awareness in our fellow classmates. Hopefully we will make a bigger impact than that negative one we are making on our planet.

Academic Career

I've been in the American School since I was 3 years old so all that I've learned form computers and technology was from her. I remember I had computer class all through primary and we learned the binary numbers, how to use all Microsoft office programs, and how to search for stuff in the internet. When I came into Junior High, that's when I started learning more complex progrmas like dreamweaver and photoshop. We also learned on how to write in the keayboard without looking at it. We've had a lot of schooling when it comes to computers but my memory seems to forget it a bit. That's all!

Flash Project

I really liked working with flash because it was easier than the first time. My animation is really cool but it took a lot of time to do. I wish I was better at doing something with flash, but at least Im getting the hang of it. I really wish the rotoball movie comes out looking great because we all put a lot of effort into it.

Flash Animation

Before this assignment I had never worked with Flash, and I actually liked it. Although I found a lot of difficulties with the program and I got frustrated constantly, I think I did a nice job with it. The tween that I liked the most was the one were the picture transformed into another thing, I don't remember it's name but I thought it was really cool :) One of the thing's that I thought was the hardest was the motion tween because there are so many little details that can go wrong and ruin it. But overall I really enjoyed this assignment.

Family Runions

My family is really big, I am the last of the 15 cousins from one side and the 3rd oldest from the twelve cousins on the other side. One of the best family reunions that I remember happened with my dad's side of the family. Once a year we do a huge family reunin which we call the "Family Big Brother". That one time we stayed in a hotel for a whole weekend because we were celebrating my grandmother's 80th birthday. Everyone was there: my cousins, their husbands and wives, their children, my uncles and aunts, 2nd and 3rd removed cousins and uncles, my grandmother's aunts and cousins, everyone. So for two days straight we played, swam, sun tanned, ate, and partied a lot! It was so much fun to spend so much time with my cousins and to be able to actually hang out with them and see how they are. That was the best and biggest family reunion ever! I love y family <3

My Family Tree <3

The reason why I chose the cherry blossom (Sakura) is because i believe it has one of the most beautiful flowers of all the trees. In China the cherry blossom symbolizes feminine beauty or love in the language of flowers. And since I grew up in a very matriarchal family this tree simbolizes the strong and beautiful bond that I have with my family.

Social Media Revolution

Social Media has taken over the world! It has turned obsolete carriers like marketing by out ranking them and becoming more efficient. In a world where technology dictates the future, how can we be more prepared in order to avoid becoming obsolete? What can schools do to help us become efficient members of our communities and the future leaders without being left behind by technological advances? And how can we protect ourselves from social media?
To be completely honest, I repel technology. Whether it's phones, computers, cameras, or video games; I truly suck. But the problem with this is that technology is becoming such an important part of this world that it's nearly impossible not to be absorbed by it. Universities are recruiting people via e-mail and Facebook, not even bothering with letters or phone calls. Even though technology is helping save more trees, which I'm really glad for, it's also opening a very dangerous door for people who want to take advantage of the information that's on the net. Every day I get e-mails from unknown people who would like to become my friend on Facebook, or e-mails from colleges that I've never even heard of. How can we know for certain that what we open is not a virus, or a window for other users to see our personal information? The only way I see to protect myself is not by not using the internet, but by putting as little of my personal information as I can and by being very careful of what I post and the content and privacy of it.
I believe that in order for us to become more efficient adults it's very important to learn more about technology. First of all schools shouldn't block things like Facebook or Youtube, because if we can't understand something, we can't ask! We need to update and learn about more tricks and ways to improve ourselves through technology, to gain more information and therefore be more prepared.

The Art Of Posting and Blogging

To those who read this, it may come to a surprise that I know nothing of Blogs. Well, for what I've heard they're a way to use technology in order to express your feelings and ideas online, making it available for other people to read, if they're interested. I view it as a way in which closet poets and authors can make their way into the world. I've heard of plenty of magazines and newspapers who've contacted people through their blogs. Today we added all of our contact's blog adress through facebook. Solving then the problem that the teacher assigned us :D The way in which I created my blog was by first signing on to blogger.com , then I created an account, filled in the information and that's how I created it.The reason why the name of my blog is Green is because first is the color of ecology, second its my favorite coloe, and third, its the color of my eyes so it means a lot. Well I hope you enjoy this, my first blog!
